This chicken cheese steak sandwich is filled with sweet and spicy chicken, melty cheese, peppers and onions. It's comfort food with a punch of savory goodness in every bite.
½cupMiller’s Banana Pepper Sauceplus additional for serving
6slicesdeli-sliced provolone cheese
6Italian or hoagie rollssliced in half, but not completely through
Instructions
Heat oven to 350F.
In large skillet, over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add onions and peppers and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until just softened. Season with salt.
Add chicken and banana pepper sauce. Cook, stirring, for 2 to 3 minutes or until chicken is warmed through.
Spread the chicken, peppers and onions into an even layer over the bottom of the skillet. Top evenly with cheese. Cover, turn off the heat and let stand for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Meanwhile, place rolls on a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes or until toasted on the outside.
Open warm rolls and fill with cheese steak mixture, cheese-side-up.
Notes
If you prefer your rolls soft on the outside, then instead of toasting them, fill rolls with cheese steak mixture, wrap in foil and warm in the oven for 5 minutes.Some rolls come already sliced in half. It's best to have rolls that are not sliced all the way through, but intact on one side.
