Let’s Get This Party Started with Sam’s Fresh Mango Pineapple Salsa.

Sam's Fresh Salsa

THE SAM’S FRESH SALSA BLOGGER CHALLENGE IS ON. THIRTY BLOGGERS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN. I AM DELIGHTED TO BE A PART OF THIS CULINARY COMPETITION. “BUENO ON EVERYTHING” SAM’S GENEROUSLY PROVIDED EACH CONTESTANT WITH SEVERAL CONTAINERS OF SALSA.

salsa, cumin, cream cheese & pepper Jack
crushed tortilla chips & pretzel sticks

It’s true! You are going to love my Sam’s Salsa appetizer entry. Sam’s makes it simple doing the work and packing the flavor into this versatile salsa. Fresh mango, pineapple and peppers bring life to the party. With only 6 ingredients including the salsa this recipe is ready in minutes. Here is how to make it.

How to make salsa cheese ball pops

  • Blend cream cheese, salsa, cumin and pepper Jack
  • Shape cheese mixture into balls and chill
  • Roll in crushed tortilla chips
  • Add a pretzel stick

Feel free to put your own spin on this party pleasing recipe. I love the flavor of cumin, but smoked paprika or curry powder work well, too. Further, choose any crunchy outer coating your heart desires. I love lime infused tortilla chips, but toasted nuts, crushed cheese crackers or even crispy potato chips will do fine.

So easy to pick up a salsa cheese ball pop with a pretzel stick.

Description

Fresh, fun and flavorful these salsa cheese ball pops bring life to the party with their creamy-crunchy texture and sweet-heat taste.

Ingredients

½ package (4 oz.) cream cheese, softened

½ cup packed Sam’s Fresh Mango Pineapple Salsa, drained of excess liquid

½ cup shredded pepper Jack cheese

½ teaspoon ground cumin

½ to ¾ cup crushed tortilla chips (I like hint of lime flavor)

30 thin pretzel sticks*

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, blend cream cheese, salsa, cumin and shredded cheese until well mixed.
  2. Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon drop 1-inch balls of cheese mixture onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Chill cheese balls in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up a bit.
  3. Roll cheese balls in crushed tortilla chips to coat and place on a serving platter. Insert 1 pretzel stick into each cheese ball and serve.

Notes

To keep it crunchy it’s best to roll cheese balls in crushed chips and insert pretzel stick just prior to serving.

If pretzel sticks are too long feel free to snap them in half and insert into cheese balls.
