I love starting the new year with a clean slate and a scrubbed-out kitchen. I empty every cabinet, drawer, and pantry shelf before deep-cleaning the fridge and freezer. After wiping everything down and checking expiration dates, I return the essentials to their spots. The rest is lined up on the counter to use immediately like in this recipe for vanilla granola.

Crunchy oat vanilla granola.

Instead of throwing food out, I gather those half-empty containers of oats, seeds, nuts, and extracts to create a crunchy oat vanilla granola. Some might call this a "clean" recipe, just another trendy buzzword for eliminating processed foods, but I simply love how it uses what I have.

Organic blue agave nectar keeps the sweetness subtle, while Celtic sea salt and vanilla bean powder add a delicious flavor burst. This addictive recipe gives you complete freedom to customize every batch to your own taste. I hope my pantry finds inspire you to "go clean" and clear out your own cabinets!

Granola Flavors

  • Use maple syrup and maple extract in place of agave and vanilla
  • For vanilla almond granola add only almond extract and slivered almonds
  • Add dried blueberries or apricots after the granola cools in place of cherries.

I am a minimalist at heart Ronna and the less stuff I have to clean the happier I am. Just start with 1 drawer or cabinet.
