Salted caramel peanut butter pretzel balls smothered in chocolate is a mouthful of goodness. I really don't have an artistic bone in my body, but I do think these little football shaped sweets are super cute. Toss one right into your mouth.

William was never the artsy type. This rare photo of William doing something artsy with best buddy Brian at cub scout camp is a gem. Luckily, (for me) he was required to take at least 2 art classes in high school. As a freshman football player he chose "dance for athletes" and ceramics. He chose well.

His ceramic pieces are so precious and give great insight into who he was. I am grateful to his teacher who allowed such expression in these beautiful tiles. Hunting, camp fires, the woods....he lived these scenes. Can you see him dancing around the camp fire?

Morning, noon and night. Winter, spring, summer and fall. The boy was creative and artistic and I suppose always longing to be in the woods rather than in school. A hunting he will go.

Wish I had understood that better back then and I wish I wasn't telling this story now.

Let's make these salted caramel peanut butter pretzels smothered in chocolate. With only 6 ingredients plus salt what's stopping you?
Caramel Peanut Butter Pretzel Ingredients
- crushed salted pretzels, any brand is fine
- powdered sugar
- salted caramel peanut butter spread: you can substitute 1 tablespoon of salted caramel topping and 3 tablespoons of peanut butter if you can't find the spread
- soft butter (salted or unsalted) for easy mixing
- chocolate melts or couverture, any flavor you like
- coconut oil helps keep the chocolate liquid a bit longer for dipping

Let me know if you try these Salted caramel peanut butter pretzel balls.

The tiles are remarkable, they seem to be the work of someone much older (old soul?). What a treasure.
Min says
Agreed!
Lisa says
Yes-he was an old soul with an adventurous and loving heart
Louis Matino (@LouMatino) says
Love the tiles. You definitely weren't getting any drawings of flowers, lol.
Lisa says
You got that right! 🙂
Min says
He was definitely artistically talented, but his connection to nature, flora and fauna, that is life, probably enabled him to do well in and have insight in all that he applied himself to do, for it came from a very deep well of heart and love...
Lisa says
I could have used your teaching expertise when he was in high school, Min. When he loved a subject he went full throttle and did it to the best of his ability, but if he didn't like the subject---oh boy did we butt heads.

I just unpacked them last week and really marveled at the beauty of them...all over again. I treasure them more than ever
Bev Poulin says
I absolutely love the tiles. I want to see them next time we are together. It took my breath away to see the picture of him with Brian. Thank you God for filling their lives with so many smiles.
Lisa says
Those two boys did have a good time together always---even doing art work

I've been reading, but lacked the energy to comment for a while. As I sit here making wings and dip for the game, I looked at these tiles and just cried. It has been a long and difficult holiday season this year...Much more emotionally draining than our first Christmas without Aidan.
I think of my Aidan and Will and how such creative, talented and vital boys left pieces of themselves without ever knowing how much they would be treasured later.
Lisa says
I know there is nothing I can say or do to ease your pain. I am glad this holiday is behind you now. It will never ever make sense, but to say I am better off to have had him for 23 years along with this pain than to have never had him at all
Ronna F says
Lovely tiles, Lisa. Your Will was a remarkable young man and I know you treasure these. The recipe looks and sounds delish!
Lisa says
Thanks Ronna. Yes, they are real treasures and I am glad I unpacked another box of his things. It has taken me awhile.
Carol says
Of course those tiles were of camping and hunting and outdoors. So "William". Loved seeing them, a treasure for sure. (Especially the "boy dancing around the campfire", that one's my favorite 🙂
Lisa says
Happy he never burned down the local woods
Tracy says
The tiles are so William!
These sound like a hit for sure.

Little pieces of him I will always treasure. Easy recipe to make with the kids.

Love the treats and the tiles! I understand the not admitting to be artistic thing....same with my son as art is something his sister does...lol. Such treasures and I am glad you have them as well as so many beautiful photos.
Lisa says
I don't know if school still requires classes like art and music...hope it hasn't gone the way of home economics. We all benefit when we explore different sides of ourselves
kathybruton2 says
Such beautiful art..
Just recently I found this..perhaps you've seen it:
"Grief never ends...but it changes.
It's a passage, not a place to stay.
Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith...
It is the price of love."
Wishing you a new year filled with hope, peace & strength.
Lisa says
Thank you for sharing and for the good wishes.
Betsy says
